A country tucked away among the mountains, the abode of the everlasting snows. That country is Kashmir. It happens to be where three great countries meet Russia, China, and British India. Kashmir is one of the most beautiful countries of the world ; truly a land flowing with milk and honey. Hazrat Zain- Din- Walli Sahib R.A

The shrine of Hazrat Azin-ud-Din Wali is situated on a hillock, about 20 Kms. Village. Aishmuqam is very well known in every part of Kashmir on account of the historical shrine of sheikh Zain-ud-din who lived in the 15th century A.D. and was one of the second principal disciples of Sheikh Nur-ud-din(ra). The festival at Aishmuqam is held every year in the month of April. It is mention in the “Reshi Naama”, authored by Ghulam Mustafa Shah, ancestor of the Shahs of Aishmuqam, who wrote about the Reshis and Zain ud Din Rishi who was son of Jaising, the Hindu Rajput ruler of Rukan, near Bandarkot in Kishtwar, named Zia Singh at birth. His father Yesh Singh, the then Kishtwar ruler, is said to have been assassinated when Zia Singh was only 13 years old and was brought up by his mother. Once fell seriously ill and all known Hakims and Vaids at that time (doctors) were helpless in curing him. Sheikh Nur-ud-din is said to have passed through Kishtwar at that time...

Maharaja Gulab Singh proved to be a strong and stern ruler. He did not live long to rule over Kashmir, but during the short period of about eleven years he tried to establish peace in the country with a strong hand. Much of his energy was spent unsuccessfully in trying to subdue the frontier district of Gilgit which continued to be in a state of disturbance. In 1852 the Dogras were expelled from all that part of Dardistan which is on the right bank of the Indus. Gilgit went out of their hands and Gulab Singh decided to advance no further. Maharaja Ranbir Singh wanted to regain what his father had lost and to re-establish the name and reputation of his army. and turned his attention towards the frontier of Gilgit. There were internal dissensions between the Rajas of various parts of the frontier. The Rajas of Hunza and Nagar hated each other and were in bitter state of affairs.
